JSW Steel: CEC reports yet to be considered by Supreme Court

India based steel producer JSW Steel clarified today, on April 23, that the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) reports against the company are yet to be considered by the Supreme Court. Reportedly, the Supreme Court appointed-CEC had submitted its report dated April 20, recommending extension of scope of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation against JSW Group.

"JSW Steel (with no captive mines) is not connected with any of the alleged mining activities. The company or any of its group companies have not obtained any benefits from the genuine expenditure incurred either towards philanthropic and social causes for which the Group is committed to or in purchase of land for corporate purposes," The announcement made by JSW Steel reads.

To protect the interest of all its stakeholders, the company would file its objections to the CEC report before the Supreme Court and contest the recommendations of the CEC before the Court in appropriate time, the announcement added.
