Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel Corporation has announced that it will supply approximately 100,000 metric tons of API X65-grade UOE line pipe for US-based Amberjack Pipeline Company LLC's Jack & St. Malo oil export pipeline project in the Gulf of Mexico.

The UOE line pipes with a 24-inch outer diameter to be supplied by JFE Steel in cooperation with Japan-based Marubeni-Itochu Steel Inc. will be used for an approximate 223 kilometer pipeline to transport crude oil to a transshipment platform within the Gulf. The high-end line pipes should be capable of withstanding the pressures and low temperatures of sea depths at 2,100 meters.

Amberjack Pipeline Company LLC is a joint venture between Chevron Pipe Line Company and Shell Pipeline Company LP. Chevron Pipe Line Company will construct and operate the pipeline in question for Amberjack.
