Japan's steel exports post y-o-y decline

Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports fell 10.7 percent year on year to 2.27 million metric tons in January 2006. Japan's steel exports to South Korea fell 6.4 percent year on year to 581,326 metric tons in January, while those to China decreased 32.3 percent to 324,654 metric tons. Furthermore, Japan's steel exports to Thailand fell 14 percent to 292,155 metric tons, while those to Taiwan decreased 14.3 percent to 229,289 metric tons. On the other hand, Japan's steel exports to the US jumped 47.6 percent to 130,292 metric tons.
