In July this year, Japan’s iron and steel product exports amounted to 2.78 million metric tons, declining by 1.8 percent month on month and increasing by 12.0 percent year on year, according to the customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
In the January-July period this year, Japanese iron and steel product exports amounted to 19.40 million mt, dropping by 0.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Regarding Japan’s major iron and steel product export markets, in the first seven months this year the country’s iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 3.54 million metric tons, up 6.7 percent, while exports to China decreased by 33.1 percent to 1.64 million metric tons, the export volume to Taiwan amounted to 962,565 metric tons, down by 17.1 percent, exports to Thailand totaled 2.84 million metric tons, decreasing by 6.9 percent, while exports to the US totaled 704,268 metric tons, down by 3.6 percent, all year on year.
