In September this year, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet shipments were up by 17.5 percent compared to the previous month and by 12.5 percent from 702,450 mt recorded in the same month of 2022, amounting to 790,360 metric tons, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. In the given month, 67.1 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 32.9 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 729,111 mt, down by 1.7 percent month on month and by 0.9 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in September Japan’s hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.34 million mt, moving up by 0.1 percent from the previous month and increasing by 21.3 percent year on year. 23.0 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 77.0 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.21 million mt, down by 10.7 percent month on month and up by 15.6 percent year on year.
