Japan's HR steel strip shipments up 0.5 percent in Oct from Sept

In October this year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet shipments increased by 12 percent compared to the previous month and were up by 0.6 percent compared to the same month last year, amounting to 905,000 metric tons. 73.5 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 26.5 percent were made to the export markets, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. 
 
In October of the current year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 890,000 mt, up 6.2 percent month on month and rising 1.1 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in October, Japan's hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.5 million mt, up 0.5 percent from the previous month and falling by 0.2 percent year on year. 26.5 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 73.5 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan's hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.51 million mt, increasing by 9.8 percent month on month and up by 1.3 percent year on year.
