Japan’s ferrous scrap exports up 161 percent in August

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, the country's ferrous scrap exports totaled 730,000 metric tons in August, increasing by 161.6 percent year on year, but down 15.48 percent over July.

In August this year, Japan's major ferrous scrap export markets didn't change with 380,600 metric tons of scrap exports to China and 334,500 metric tons to South Korea.

On the other hand, in the January-August period Japan exported 7.15 million metric tons of ferrous scrap, up 84.57 percent year on year. In the period in question, China imported 4.26 million metric tons of ferrous scrap from Japan, while South Korea imported 2.67 million metric tons.
