Japan’s ferroalloy imports maintain downtrend in February

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroalloy imports totaled 102,000 metric tons in February this year, decreasing by 22.7 percent compared to the previous month, following the 8.1 percent month-on-month decrease in January, and were down 9.9 percent compared to February 2012.

In February of the current year, Japan's ferroalloy imports from China decreased to 18,127 metric tons, down 23.5 percent compared to the previous month and up 17 percent year on year, while Kazakhstan exported 16,449 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in February, down 40.8 percent month on month and decreasing by 32.5 percent compared to February 2012. Meanwhile, South Africa's ferroalloy exports to Japan in the month in question fell by 40.5 percent month on month to 14,037 mt, down 32.9 percent year on year.
