Japan’s ferroalloy imports down nine percent in Q1

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroally imports totaled 124,022 metric tons in March this year, rising by 9.5 percent month on month and down 17.8 percent compared to March 2011.
 
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2012, Japan's ferroally imports amounted to 377,523 metric tons, decreasing by nine percent year on year.
 
In the first quarter of the current year, Japan's ferroally imports from South Africa fell by 10.6 percent compared to the same period last year to 83,746 metric tons, while Kazakhstan exported 75,116 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in the first three months of this year, falling 3.5 percent year on year.
