Japan’s ferroalloy imports down four percent in Jan-Feb

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroally imports totaled 113,264 metric tons in February this year, falling by 19.25 percent month on month and down 4.4 percent compared to February 2011.

In February of the current year, Japan's ferroally imports from South Africa fell by 33.1 percent compared to the previous month to 20,945 metric tons, while an increase of 23.1 percent was registered compared to February 2011. China exported 15,500 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in February this year, falling 38 percent month on month and down 19.6 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the January-February period of 2012, Japan's ferroally imports amounted to 253,535 metric tons, decreasing by 3.9 percent year on year.

In the first two months of this year, Japanese ferroally imports from South Africa totaled 52,244 metric tons, while imports from China amounted to 40,477 metric tons, decreasing by 13.15 percent and down 8.9 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
