Japan’s domestic steel product orders up 56.31 percent in February

According to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association, ordinary steel product orders booked by domestic steel consuming sectors in Japan in February this year amounted to 6.11 million metric tons, increasing by 3.76 percent compared to January and up 56.31 percent year on year.

In February, ordinary steel product orders in Japan booked by the domestic construction sector increased by 10.37 percent compared to January, to 883,638 metric tons, while a year-on-year increase of 14.65 percent was witnessed. Meanwhile, steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector in February reached 794,779 metric tons, down 9.16 percent compared to January and up 161 percent year on year. Finally, Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 442,261 metric tons of ordinary steel products during the month in question, up 4.88 percent month on month and declining by 8.75 percent year on year.
