Japan’s domestic steel product orders up 0.7% in Feb over Jan

According to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF), steel product orders, including specialty steels, booked by domestic steel consuming sectors in Japan in February this year amounted to 7.5 million metric tons, increasing by 0.7 percent compared to January and down 0.8 percent year on year.
 
In February this year, ordinary steel product orders in Japan booked by the domestic construction sector increased by 3.65 percent month on month to 1 million metric tons - up 13.5  percent year on year, while steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector, including specialty steel, totaled 977,375 metric tons, falling by 3.2 percent as compared to January this year and down 14.9 percent year on year. Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 286,514 metric tons of ordinary steel products in February, increasing by 3.9 percent month on month and down 27.4 percent as compared to the same month of 2012.
