Japan's CR steel strip shipments down 20.7 percent in April from March

In April this year, Japan's cold rolled sheet and strip shipments decreased by 20.7 percent compared to the previous month and were up by 11.5 percent on year-on-year basis, amounting to 476,000 metric tons. 52.9 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 47.1 percent were made to the export markets, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. 
 
Meanwhile, in the given month, Japan's CR sheet and strip inventories increased by 4.9 percent from the previous month to 683,000 metric tons and were down 3.9 percent year on year. 74.2 percent of inventories were held by steel manufacturers, while 25.8 percent were held by steel traders.
 
In April, Japan's CR sheet and strip production amounted to 508,000 mt, down 9.9 percent month on month and increasing 12.9 percent year on year.
