Japan’s coking coal imports fall in February

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 5 million metric tons in February this year, falling by 18 percent month on month and down 12.8 percent compared to February 2012.

In February, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 2.5 million metric tons, down 22.2 percent compared to the previous month, while Indonesia exported 1.95 million mt of coking coal to Japan in February, rising by 2.7 percent month on month.

In the first two months of the year, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 11.1 million metric tons, decreasing by 8.4 percent year on year.
