Japan’s coking coal imports down 18 percent in September

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japanese coking coal imports totaled 5.59 million metric tons in September this year, falling by 19  percent month on month and down 18 percent compared to September 2012.

In the first nine months of 2013, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 57.9 million metric tons, increasing by 6.1 percent year on year.

In September this year, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 2.95 million metric tons, down 18 percent compared to the same month of last year, while Indonesia exported 1.57 million mt of coking coal to Japan in September this year, down by 13.4 percent year on year.
