Japanese domestic iron and steel prices rise 2.5 percent in April over March

In April this year, domestic iron and steel prices in Japan rose by 2.5 percent as compared to March, while the year-on-year decline was recorded at 7.5 percent, according to the domestic corporate goods price index released by the Bank of Japan on May 17.
 
Meanwhile, export prices for metals and related products increased by 6.5 percent month on month and were up 16.5 percent year on year, both on yen basis, while import prices of metals and related products rose 13.5 percent over March and were up 32 percent as compared to April 2009.
