In June this year, Japanese crude steel production was down by 4.2 percent compared to the previous month and by 1.7 percent compared to June 2022, totaling 7.32 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in the given month Japan’s pig iron production totaled 5.25 million metric tons, decreasing by 4.1 percent compared to the previous month and up by 0.1 percent year on year.
In the January-June period this year, the country’s crude steel output stood at 43.83 million metric tons, down by 4.7 percent, while its pig iron production came to 31.59 million metric tons, falling by 4.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
