Japanese crude steel output down 3.8 percent in October

In October this year, Japanese crude steel production was up five percent compared to the previous month and down 3.8 percent compared to October 2014, totaling 9 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). 
 
Meanwhile, in October of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.91 million metric tons, rising by 4.2 percent compared to the previous month and down 3.6 percent year on year.
 
In the first ten months this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 67.7 million metric tons, down 3.3 percent, while its crude steel production came to 87.8 million metric tons, falling 5.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
