Japanese automakers’ output up

Japanese automakers Toyota Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co. increased their global production last month to meet rising demand in North America and other overseas markets. Toyota's worldwide production rose 14% year on year to 579'040 units in May while Nissan's output increased 17% to 277'927 units. Toyota, Nissan and Honda Motor Co. have been increasing their overseas production to deliver their models sooner and reduce the impact of currency fluctuations on earnings.
