Japanese auto output down 5.1 percent in 2015

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in December last year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 749,693 units, decreasing by 17,359 units or 2.3 percent compared to the same month of 2014. In 2015, the country's automobile production amounted to 9,278,238 units, down by 496,427 units or 5.1 percent on year-on-year basis.
 
Domestic automobile sales in December of last year in Japan stood at 369,460 vehicles, down 14.5 percent as compared with the same month of 2014. In 2015, the country's domestic automobile sales totaled 5,046,511 units, decreasing by 9.3 year on year.

In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in December amounted to 411,865 units, up by 30,752 units or 8.1 percent year on year. In 2015, Japanese automobile exports totaled 4,578,078 units, increasing by  112,454 units or 2.5 percent compared to 2014.
