Italian metals manufacturer OMR Group, headquartered in Rezzato, Brescia and focused on the production of iron and steel components for the automotive industry, has announced it will invest €30 million due to a long-term supply contract inked with US auto producer General Motors (GM).

In the next two years, OMR will build and equip a new 20,000 m2 covered area at Rezzato for the production of crankcases used to make oil and diesel-fueled engines destined for the European and American markets. According to a statement by OMR, the partnership with General Motors will bring its benefits in the mid- to-long term (8-10 years) and will also enhance the activity of other companies in northern Italy involved in other levels of the automotive production chain.

In 2010, OMR's sales revenue amounted to €431 million, while its net profit reached a mere €9 million. According to OMR's 2011 outlook, its sales revenue is set to reach €550 million in the current year.
