Italy’s flat steel imports down 31.5 percent in H1

According to Italian iron and steel association Federacciai, in the first half of the current year Italy exported 4.534 million mt of flat steel products, up 14.7 percent, while it imported 4.079 million mt of flat steel, down 31.5 percent, both year on year.
 
In the given period, Italy’s flat steel trade balance with EU countries indicated a 590,000 mt surplus, with flat steel imports to Italy down 1.5 percent to 2.812 million mt and exports up 8.5 percent to 3.402 million mt, both year on year.
 
As regards flat steel trade with non-EU countries, Italy’s imports plummeted 59.1 percent to 1.267 million mt, and exports rose by 37 percent to 1.130 million mt.
