Italy’s crude steel output up 7.3 percent in February

According to preliminary figures released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in February this year Italian crude steel output rose by 7.3 percent year on year, totaling 2.484 million metric tons.

In the first two months of the current year, Italy's total crude steel output reached 4.695 million mt, with an increase of 6.3 percent compared to the same period of 2011.

Federacciai also released Italy's long and flat steel output data for January this year. Accordingly, in the given month Italy's long steel output was down 4.8 percent year on year, totaling 835,000 metric tons, while its flat steel output amounted to 1.285 million metric tons, increasing by 1.3 percent year on year.
