According to the figures released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in August this year Italian crude steel output rose by 25.6 percent year on year, reaching 1.385 million metric tons. Meanwhile, Italian mills produced 18.695 million metric tons of crude steel in the first eight months of 2011, up 11.2 percent compared to the same period of 2010.
Federacciai also released Italy's long and flat steel output data for July this year.
Accordingly, in July Italy's long steel output increased by 9.3 percent year on year to 1.117 million metric tons, while the country's flat steel output amounted to 0.958 million metric tons, down 1.1 percent year on year.
In the first seven months of the current year, long products output reached 8.09 million metric tons, up 9.4 percent, while flat rolled production reached 8.628 million mt, increasing by 15.1 percent both compared to the previous year
