Italy's crude steel output increases by 27.8 percent in January

In January this year, Italian crude steel output increased by 27.8 percent year on year to 2.245 million metric tons, according to the figures released by Italian steel producers association Federacciai. The output in January of the current year was also higher compared to the crude steel output totals of 2.240 million mt and 2.099 million mt recorded in the same month of 2012 and 2011 respectively.
 
In December last year, Italian crude steel output had amounted to 1.781 million mt, up 4.2 percent year on year. Italy's crude steel production in the whole of 2013 totaled 24.052 million mt, down 11.8 percent compared to 27.257 million mt in 2012.
