Italy’s crude steel output down 10.5 percent in October

In October this year, Italian crude steel output decreased by 10.5 percent year on year to 2.44 million metric tons, according to the figures released by the Italian steel producers association Federacciai. October is the seventh month in a row in which a year-on-year fall in output has been recorded. Federacciai had posted a year-on-year decrease of 18 percent for Italian crude steel production in August, with the decrease rate declining to 7.8 percent in September.
 
In the first 10 months of the current year, total Italian crude steel output amounted to 23.266 million mt, down 3.6 percent compared to the same period of 2011 and down 3.36 million mt or 12.6 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2008.
