Italian crude steel production up slightly in January

In January this year, Italian producers' crude steel output increased by 0.3 percent year on year to 1,825,000 metric tons, as announced by the Italian steel association Federacciai. The output has been increasing year on year since last October.
 
However, January's output volume is lower compared to the 1.903 million metric tons recorded in January 2015 and the 2.120 million mt recorded in January 2014.
 
Meanwhile, in 2016 Italy's long steel output amounted to 11.602 million metric tons, increasing by 3.6 percent year on year. In the same period, Italian flat steel output amounted to 11.568 million metric tons, rising by 9.6 percent year on year.
