Italian crude steel production falls by 9.5 percent in May

Italy’s crude steel production fell again in May this year. According to the latest update released by Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies, crude steel production in Italy amounted to 1.995 million mt in May, down 9.5 percent year on year.

In the given month, production in the long steel segment amounted to about 1.15 million mt, decreasing by 1.6 percent year on year. As for the flat steel segment, production amounted to 817,000 mt, down further by 6.3 percent year on year, compared to a year-on-year decrease of 17.4 percent in April.
