Italian crude steel production decreases in April

In April this year, crude steel production in Italy amounted to 1.976 million metric tons, down 5.9 percent year on year, as announced by Italian steel producers association Federacciai. Until April, Italian crude steel output had been increasing each month on year-on-year basis since last October.

April's production volume is higher compared to 1.826 million metric tons recorded in April 2015, but  is lower compared to the 2.027 million mt recorded in April 2014 and the 2.115 million mt registered in April 2013.

In the January-April period of the current year, Italian crude steel production amounted to 8.106 million metric tons, increasing by 2.5 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in March this year, Italy's long steel output amounted to 1.165 million metric tons, increasing by 10.5 percent, while Italian flat steel output totaled 1.024 million metric tons, rising by 2.9 percent, both year on year.
