Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), the steelmaking subsidiaries of the Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD) have issued their production results for the first seven months of the current year.
Accordingly, in January-July 2010 Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) saw its crude steel production decline by 15.4 percent to 1.762 million mt, its finished steel products output drop by 14 percent to 1.651 million mt, its pig iron production fall by 16.7 percent to 1.567 million mt, while its agglomerate production increased by 0.2 percent to 2.536 million mt, all compared to January-July 2009.
In July this year Alchevsk produced 137,000 mt of crude steel, 124,000 mt of finished steel products, 120,000 mt of pig iron, and 273,000 mt of agglomerate.
Meanwhile, during the first seven months of 2010, DMKD registered a 23 percent decrease in its crude steel production to 1.585 million mt, a 22.3 percent drop in its finished steel product output to 1.518 million mt, a 20.5 percent fall in its pig iron production to 1.53 million mt, and an 11.6 percent decrease in its agglomerate output to 2.486 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
In July, DMKD produced 134,000 mt of crude steel, 151,000 mt of finished steel products, 120,000 mt of pig iron, and 258,000 mt of agglomerate.
