Iron ore shipments on Great Lakes down 10 percent in September

The Lake Carriers' Association announced Monday that iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes totaled 5,354,545 net tons in September, a 10 percent decrease compared to August, but still a 69 percent improvement over a year ago.

Year-to-date the Lakes iron ore trade stands at 39 million tons, a 102 percent increase year-on-year. Shipments from US ports are up 104 percent year-over-year.
