Iron ore production increases at Vale in the second quarter

Brazilian iron ore producer Vale produced 78.75 million mt of iron ore (pellets excluded) during Q2 2023, against 66.74 million mt during the previous quarter.

In the company’s north system, production reached in Q2 2023 40.16 million mt, with production in the southeast system totaled 21.80 million mt, and production in the south system at 16.79 million mt.

During Q2 2023, pellet production reached 9.11 million mt, against 8.32 million mt during the previous quarter.

The production of pellets from the north system reached 665,000 mt, in the southeast system it totaled 4.63 million mt, 1.20 million mt in the south system, and 2.61 million mt in Oman.

During Q2 2023, Vale’s iron ore sales reached 63.33 million mt and pellets sales totaled 8.81 million mt, against respectively 45.86 million mt and 8.13 million mt during the previous quarter.

The company maintains for the year a target of iron ore production in the 310 million mt to 320 million mt range.
