Iron ore exports via Port Hedland down 11.5 percent in Feb from Jan

In February this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland decreased by 11.5 percent compared to January and were down 2.7 percent year on year, totaling 35.67 million metric tons. 
 
According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in February of the current year iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 30.19 million metric tons, falling by 12.5 percent compared to the previous month and increasing by 3.6 percent year on year. South Korea and Japan followed China in January, receiving 2.65 million mt and 2.32 million mt respectively.
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
