Brazilian iron ore concentrator New Steel was awarded an operating license to build a commercial plant in the city of Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais, according to a notice at Brazil’s official gazette, Diario Oficial da Uniao.

According to the document, the operating license is valid for six years and will allow New Steel to build a unit for minerals treatment (UTM). The license also includes or allows the company to handle iron ore waste, stocking units and an electricity substation.

The license was awarded under certain conditions, which New Steel needs to meet every six months. Conditions include wildlife monitoring with technical photograph reports.

New Steel claims to be the first company in the world to use the completely dry processing method for iron ore fines.
