Iran issues iron ore production and export data

Mr. Esrafil Ahmadiye, managing director of Iranian iron ore producer Central Iron Ore Co., has announced that in the past Iranian year 1385 (ended 20.03.2007) the company produced 4.5 million metric tons of iron ore, exporting 1.5 million metric tons of its total production, primarily to China and Pakistan.

Mr. Ahmadiye went on to add that during the period in question Iran produced a total of 18 million metric tons of iron ore, with Central Iron Ore Co. accounting for a 25 percent share in this production volume.

In addition, the company is targeting to increase it production to 10 million metric tons per annum by the end of Iran's fourth socio-economic development plan (2011).
