Interpipe’s pipe sales up 31 percent in 2017

Ukrainian steel pipe and railway wheel producer Interpipe has announced its operational results for the full year of 2017.

Accordingly, in 2017 Interpipe’s pipe sales increased by 31 percent year on year to 595,000 mt. The Ukrainian, American and CIS markets became the major areas of growth. In particular, in the given year, the company’s pipe sales rose by 29 percent year on year in the Ukrainian market to 148,000 mt, while in the US Interpipe’s OCTG and line pipe sales increased by 125 percent to 90,000 mt, due to the increase in the oil and gas production. In the given year, the company’s pipe sales in the CIS region rose by 35 percent year on year and reached 140,000 mt. The Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan markets stabilizing became the key growth factor in the region. In Europe and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Interpipe’s sales volumes recovered in the key segments of construction and oil and gas industries. In 2017, the company supplied 136,000 mt of seamless and welded pipes to European customers, rising by 10 percent and 81,000 mt of seamless and welded pipes to the MENA region, up 17 percent, both compared to 2016.

In 2017, Interpipe’s sales of railway products, namely wheels, tires, axles, and wheel sets, increased by 51 percent year on year to 172,000 mt.

Meanwhile, in the given year Interpipe’s round steel billet output totaled 850,000 mt, rising by 38 percent compared to the previous year, driven by increase in the number of orders. Almost all steel billets were supplied to Interpipe mills, and only 23,000 mt were delivered to other consumers.
