Indonesia launches safeguard investigation on certain hot rolled bars and rods

Indonesia launched a safeguard investigation in January regarding imports of certain hot rolled bars and rods, according to a statement issued by the World Trade Organization (WTO).
 
As a result of the application filed by local steel producers PT. Ispat Indo and PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero), Tbk., the Indonesian Safeguard Committee found that there has been an increase in import volume of the subject good that is likely to cause or threaten to cause serious injury to domestic producers.
 
The products subject to the safeguard investigation fall under the HS codes 7213.91.10.00, 7213.91.20.00, 7213.91.90.00, 7213.99.10.00, 7213.99.20.00, 7213.99.90.00, and 7227.90.00.00.
