India’s LMEL commences production from new DRI plant

India’s Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) has commenced production from a new DRI plant in the western state of Maharashtra with a rated capacity of 70,000 mt per year, a company statement said on Friday, September 22.

The DRI plant has been constructed with a linked 4MW waste heat recovery-based power generation unit.

The company said that the project has been completed within 13 months of receipt of environmental clearances from the state authorities.

LMEL, a DRI-based manufacturer with a 340,000 mt per year capacity, is also an iron ore miner with a production capacity of 10 million mt from its Surjagarh iron ore mine in Maharashtra.
