India’s JSW Steel Limited achieved standalone crude steel production of 1.7 million mt in April this year, up seven percent year on year, a company statement said on Wednesday, May 10.

The company reported flat steel production of 1.39 million mt in April, up 16 percent, and long steel output was 300,000 mt, registering a decline of nine percent, year on year. The fall in long steel production was attributed to planned capital shutdowns at the company’s Salem and Vijayanagar units in April.

In the fiscal year 2022-23, JSW Steel achieved crude steel output of 23.62 million mt from its mills in India, a growth of 25 percent over the previous fiscal year.
