Indian galvanized coils might face AD action in China

There are unconfirmed reports in the industry that the Chinese officials are preparing to initiate an anti-dumping investigation against galvanized coil imports from India. This is in close relation with the Indian exports into China, starting to rise significantly towards the end of the fourth quarter of last year and continuing to rise this year, and particularly at lower prices. It is commented that India is focusing on China as it cannot sell its materia to the US. However, due to the shortage of domestic supply, with local producers such as Baosteel and Wuhan Iron and Steel failing to meet the demand for thin gauge galvanized, it is widely believed that even if a dumping is determined for galvanzed coil imports from India, a duty implementation is not likely to take place for the time being due to the current market conditions.
