Turning down requests from several Indian state governments, India’s Ministry of Steel and Mines has directed that only iron ore reserved with the G2 level of exploration will be put up for auction and not blocks with the G3 level, a ministry official said on Tuesday, April 19.

The official said that several iron ore-producing states like Odisha and Jharkhand had approached the ministry seeking relaxations to enable the states to add iron ore blocks with G3 level exploration to the list of reserves to be put up for auction to user industries by September this year.
