India has started an antidumping investigation into Chinese imports of seamless tubes, pipes and hollow profiles of iron, alloy or non-alloy steel (other than cast iron), whether hot finished or cold drawn or cold rolled, of an external diameter not exceeding 273 mm.

Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry Department of Commerce Directorate General of Anti Dumping and Allied Duties announced that the investigation was requested by Indian seamless tube and alloy steel producer ISMT Ltd. The period of the present investigation is April 1, 2008-June 30, 2009 (15 months). The injury investigation period will, however, cover the period 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and the present investigation period.

Seamless pipes and tubes are classified under customs sub-heading No. 73.04 of Chapter 73 of the Customs Tariff Act of 1975 in India.
