In the first eight months of the current year, the Ukrainian flat steel producer Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) saw its crude steel production rise by 32 percent to 3.59 million mt as compared to the same period last year.
In addition, in January-August this year, Ilyich's finished steel product output went up by 23.8 percent to 2.416 million mt, its pig iron production increased by 33.2 percent to 3.04 million mt, its agglomerate production grew by 42.5 percent to 7.151 million mt, while its steel pipe output increased by 2.15 times to 51,100 mt, all compared to January-August 2009.
In August this year, Ilyich produced 486,000 mt of crude steel - up 15.7 percent, 306,000 mt of finished steel products - up eight percent, 401,000 mt of pig iron - up 11 percent, 911,000 mt of agglomerate - up 7.3 percent, and 3,600 mt of steel pipes - down 7.7 percent, all compared to July 2010.
On August 23, Ilyich halted its flat rolling shop No. 3000 for capital repairs, which are scheduled to be completed by September 7.
