Hyundai’s vehicle sales up

South Korea's largest automaker, Hyundai Motor Co., said that the company's exports rose 22.4% to 970'144 units in the first six months of 2005 as its brand image improved in overseas markets. On the other hand, Hyundai's domestic sales registered a 4% decline, to 260'785 units, due to South Korea's economic slowdown. The company's total sales for the January-June 2005 period amounted to 1.23 million units, up 15.7% year on year. Hyundai's brand image showed improvement in overseas markets, particularly North America and Europe, due to the products' high quality and competitive prices.
