Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Co. Ltd (Hebei Steel), listed subsidiary of Hebei Iron and Steel Group (HBIS), has announced that in the first half of the current year it registered an operating revenue of RMB 56.176 billion ($8.22 billion), up 3.15 percent year on year, and a net profit of RMB 1.822 billion ($0.27 billion), rising by 45.67 percent year on year.
In the given period, Hebei Steel produced 11.93 million mt of pig iron, 12.22 million mt of crude steel and 11.69 million mt of finished steel, down 13.87 percent, 7.97 percent and 10.69 percent, respectively, year on year, with the decreases due to strict environmental protection measures, as stated by the company in its financial report for the first half of the year.
