Following a recent board meeting, major Chinese steel producer Hebei Iron and Steel stressed the positive impact of its merger and acquisition (M&A) and restructuring activity.

Hebei Iron and Steel official Guo Yong stated that the effect of the group's M&A and restructuring activity can be seen in four areas. First, the impact can be seen in centralized procurement, which boosts the company's power in the market and lowers its costs; second, an improvement is seen in relation to customers and logistics, with marketing resources becoming integrated, products distributed with greater ease and with a consequent reduction in sales costs; third, group development is integrated and so new constructions and investments are implemented with greater effectiveness. Fourth, after restructuring, new technology and management experience from different companies can be shared on a common platform.
