Grupo Simec reports lower year-on-year profits in Q3

During the third quarter of 2014, Grupo Simec, Mexico’s largest structural steel profiles producer reported a  net profit of 460 million Mexican pesos ($33.8 million), down from 509 million Mexican pesos ($37.5 million) over the same period last year. Its sales revenue increased by 13 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2014 due to higher sales prices.

The company said in a note to the country's stock exchange this week that its earnings in the third quarter of 2014 increased by 3 percent year-on-year. Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) totaled 487 million Mexican pesos ($35.8 million) during the quarter, against 472 million Mexican pesos ($34.7million) a year earlier.
