Global pig iron output up 2.73 percent in May over April

According to the preliminary data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global pig iron production in May this year totaled 90.57 million metric tons, increasing by 2.73 percent compared to newly revised April levels and up by 24.83 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2010, global pig iron output came to 436.04 million metric tons, rising by 27.53 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
