Global pig iron output rises slightly in May from April

According to the preliminary data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global pig iron production in May this year came to 93.36 million metric tons, increasing slightly by 0.90 percent as compared to the previous month and up 4.49 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2011 world pig iron output amounted to 455.45 million metric tons, rising by 5.41 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
