Global pig iron output rises 1.63 percent in July over June

According to the preliminary data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global pig iron production in July this year came to 94.29 million metric tons, increasing by 1.63 percent as compared to the previous month and up 14 percent year on year. In the first seven months of the year, world pig iron output amounted to 642.57 million metric tons, rising by seven percent compared to the corresponding period of 2010.

In July this year, the top pig iron producer in the world according to worldsteel was China with 55.06 million mt, which is 58.4 percent of the global pig iron production.
